Indian Police arrest four Nigerians over internet fraud

The accused, Peter Austin (29), Eboh Felix (26), Steffi Ebohon (24) and Uzaonicha Daniel Iwenwanne (26), reportedly contacted a student named Mohd Wasiuddin, and told him he's won some money. The police said the gang managed to convince the unsuspecting victim to deposit money for registration, customs clearance, processing fees and other expenses.
"Believing the gang members, Wasiuddin deposited about Rs. 35 lakh in different bank accounts operated from Gujarat, Rajasthan and Mumbai, only to realize later that it was fraud" the police in charge saidThe police arrested the four Nigerians after posing as another victim and tracing their phone call data record and email conversations.

Arrest of suspected armed robbers/cultists
The Rivers State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that in its increased onslaughts on criminals to usher in year 2015, has on a tip-off raided a suspected criminals' hide out.
On 3rd January, 2015 at about 01:00AM a team of Policemen raided Prana Hotel along Oboburu road in Akabuka of ONELGA and arrested fifteen suspected armed robbers/cultists who were already about to go out and carry out their nefarious act.

Mother strangles her one day child to death in Ebonyi
According to Sunday Sun, Ugochukwu gave birth to her daughter on December 21st and was discharged the next day. On getting to her house, Ugochukwu said she was frustrated and was pushed to killing her baby after the man who impregnated her denied the pregnancy.
“I killed my one-day old baby girl intentionally because I don’t have N500 for her medical treatment. I want to be free lady. I didn’t have any intention to get pregnant. I was impregnated by one man called Monday, a native of Ozizza Afikpo North LGA. But later he refused to accept the pregnancy and I didn’t plan for it. I am not ready to marry; I want to be a free lady. I had to strangle the baby girl and put the corpse in a black polythene bag and dumped it along Ndibe beach road, near the bush. I don’t regret killing my baby because nobody was responsible for her upkeep.” she told police. The police say she will soon be charged to court.

Army denies secret trial and dismissal of 203 soldiers
The Nigerian Army has denied reports of the secret trial and
dismissal of 203 Nigerian soldiers in Borno state on December 24th which
was reported on January 2nd. According to the Director Army
Public Relations, Brigadier General Olajide
Laleye, the army does not conduct any illegal trial
"As I speak to you, I don’t know where such secret trial was conducted and how the story of 203 soldiers came about, maybe the writer conducted the trial. The army conducts its trials in line with laid down procedures and the suspects choose their own lawyers to represent them. The army does not do any illegal trial and whatever it does is according to the law.” he told Tribune
