Nigerian man allegedly beats his own mother to death in Texas

Mother of four, Hauwa Esther Kadima, 61, who was an accomplished professor of languages, and a published author, was bludgeoned to death at her home in Longview, Texas, on July 28th. Her last child, 31 year old Daniel Kadima (left) has been arrested in connection with her death.

Man kills ex-girlfriend and her grandmother over child's name

A Pennsylvania man stabbed his ex-girlfriend and then beat her 72-year-old to death after getting upset that his ex-girlfriend wouldn’t name their newborn son after him, according to police.

Cesar Mazza, 25, of Pittsburgh was ordered held without bail on Wednesday on 2 counts of criminal homicide and a charge of kidnapping his 11-week-old son. Court records didn’t list an attorney for him.

That is obsessed fan Shanto Ronaldo from Denmark with his ultimate idol, Cristiano Ronaldo. Not only did Shanta adopt the surname Ronaldo, he's also spent thousands of dollars juet to look like Cristiano. The 17 year old has also started copying Ronaldo's fashion sense, including his hairstyle.

Shanta attends football matches and practices and then waits for hours outside just to get a glimpse of his hero. One day, he managed to take a photo with Ronaldo himself, who now knows him.

Mass failure as the Nigerian Law School releases results

Choi! The Nigerian Law School results was released in the early hours of today August 6th and according to a LIB source, a lot of students failed. In fact, they estimate that about 60% of the students failed the exam, about another 25% with General Pass and only 15% making First Class, Second Class Upper and Second Class Lower.

This is the second time the Law School will be turning out a large number students with woeful results. Many of the students are devastated. But what is going on, why is this happening?

Texas father sentenced to life in Prison after impregnating his daughter

A North Texas man, Danny Richard Minor, 40, was sentenced to life confinement without the possibility of parole for three counts of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child and life confinement for 2 counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, announced Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis.
From 2002 until 2009 when Minor lived in Plano, he molested two related children and an unrelated child. One child disclosed the abuse in 2009, but conflicting statements prevented detectives from moving forward at that time.

Senate confirms new Service Chiefs

After 4 hours of screening behind closed doors yesterday, the newly appointed Service Chiefs have been confirmed by the Senate. Senate President Bukola Saraki said their screening showed they were all appointed based on merit.

281 victims rescued, 252 reunited with family between Jan. & June - NAPTIP

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and other Related Matters (NAPTIP) revealed its Lagos Zonal Office has rescued 281 persons trafficked between Jan. and July.

The agency further disclosed that it reunited 252 victims of human trafficking with their families after conducting a surveillance and investigation on their families. Commander, Lagos Zone, Mr. Joseph Famakin made these known in an interview on Tuesday in Lagos.

Governor Ambode appoints 19 new permanent secretaries

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the appointment of 19 new Permanent Secretaries in the State Public Service. In a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Habib Aruna, the appointments are in line with the Governor’s drive to restructure the civil service for efficient performance and service delivery. The development is also coming on the heels of the streamlining of some existing Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) aimed at ensuring greater efficiency.
The new Permanent Secretaries, the statement said, have been deployed across board in the new structure of the civil service.

9yr old boy dies after being accidentally struck in the head with a bat during baseball game

Kaiser Carlile, the bat boy for the Liberal Bee Jays summer baseball team in Liberal, Kansas, was struck in the head with a bat as a player took practice swings during a game against the San Diego Waves on Saturday August 1st. Carlile, who was wearing a helmet, immediately slumped. He was rushed to the hospital where he died the following day. The bat had pierced through his helmet.

The team president Nathan McCaffrey announced the sad news in a statement yesterday, on Sunday August 2nd.

Buhari orders reduction of recurrent expenditure in 2016 budget

In a statement released yesterday by Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, President Buhari yesterday ordered the National Planning Commission to go back to the drawing board and produce the framework for the 2016 national budget that will reduce recurrent expenditure and prioritize developmental projects.

Shehu said the President gave the order after receiving a briefing from the Executive Secretary of the commission, Dr. Bassey Akpanyung, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Senators, Businessmen, politicians make list of chronic bank debtors

Nigerian Deposit Money Banks on Monday continued with the policy of naming and shaming their delinquent debtors with further publication of the names of firms and their directors whose loans have become non-performing for more than one year.

While nine banks published the names of the loans defaulters on Monday, four banks released the lists of their chronic debtors, owing a total of N143.81bn, on Tuesday. The four banks are First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Access Bank Plc, Diamond Bank Plc and Unity Bank Plc.
