Gov. Idris Wada of Kogi has appealed to his co-contestant for the governorship ticket of the PDP in the 2011 election , Alhaji Jibril Isah, popularly known as Echocho, not to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Wada made the appeal Monday night in Lokoja during a reception organised for the governor by the party.
He also urged Echocho and his supporters to join hands with him in a bid to put the party in a good position to win the 2015 general elections.
Wada described the Feb. 21 Supreme Court judgement which affirmed his candidature for the governorship election as “no victor, no vanquished”.
He said that the task of building a new Kogi required the support and understanding of everybody and called on all citizens to rally round him to take the state to the next level.
The governor said that he bore no grudge or malice against anyone in the party.
According to him, the main task before his administration is how to actualise the transformation agenda in the health and agricultural sectors of the state.
Wada thanked party faithful for their show of love and cooperation while the court case lasted and promised to ensure that PDP remains the party to beat in the coming elections.
The State Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Hassan Salawu, said that the reception was to celebrate the governor's victory at the court.
He also appealed to aggrieved party members not to defect, promising that they would continue to enjoy equal treatment.
