Woman Accused Of 40-Day-Old Baby Theft Remanded In Custody

A 45-year-old woman,  Busurat Ademola, was remanded in prison custody by a Nigerian Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting at Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo state.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olusola Adetujoye, ordered a petty trader to be remanded in Agodi Prison for allegedly stealing a 40-day-old baby.

According to the prosecutor, Insp Ade Adebusuyi, the accused entered a house and stole a sleeping 40-day-old baby.

The baby’s mother was washing the child’s clothes at the backyard when she saw Busurat leaving the house with her child.

The child’s mother raised an alarm and the kidnapper was detained.

When the defendant was asked about her mission in the house she said she was looking for room to rent.

The offence was committed on 8 April at about 10 a.m., at Agric area of Olomi in Ibadan.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olusola Adetujoye, didn't take the plea of the accused and the case was adjourned until 30th of  April.
