Nanny who battered Ugandan baby asks for forgiveness, explains why she did it

There's absolutely no reason for severely battering a helpless 18month old but the Nanny who is currently in prison awaiting trial for attempted murder of baby Arnella tries to explain why she did it and begs for forgiveness. She's due in court again on December 8th.

Speaking from Luzira prison, Jolly Tumuhiirwe told Ugandaonline.net
“My dad in Kabale was very sick and my mom did not have any money. I asked my bosses for some money to send to my dad but they told me that I hadn’t made a month yet and my father was dying, so it kept on haunting me. That is the more reason I referred the anger to the baby but I’m sorry.

A riot broke out this morning in Lekki Phase 1 following thugs/motorcycle riders clash. The cause of the riot has not been fully established but according to some residents, the chairman of the Eti-Osa local government area allegedly engaged the services of touts to confiscate any motorcycle seen within the area.

The touts allegedly beat up one of the Okada men after he refused to let them seize his motorcycle and this led to a serious fight between some of the Okada men, bus drivers and the thugs. The police was immediately called in to stop the riot from escalating. The gate leading to the estate was shut immediately. See some photos after the cut...

The only daughter of former Super Eagles ace striker Julius Aghahowa, Isabel Aghahowa, recently released her first book - a work of fiction titled The Ellegers, and she's just 13 years old. Her birthday is actually today. Happy birthday Isabel.

American wife to get $530million in Britain's biggest divorce payout

A judge in a London High Court ruled that the American wife of a British Tycoon be given $530m in a divorce payout. This is considered to be the biggest divorce settlement so far in British history. The estranged wife of finance tycoon Christopher Hohn will receive an equivalent of N96 billion.
The judge awarded Jamie Cooper-Hohn $493 million in cash and the rest in the form of a property in Connecticut and adjustments to her share of a pension.

Afrobeat musician, Femi Kuti received the shock of his life, when he discovered that two of his children are not his! A DNA test was carried out and the discovery was made. He revealed this during a recent chat with Encomium. Here’s how Encomium reports it:
 
Out of his alleged five children: Made, Afolabi, Dupe, Tosin and Ayomide, two of them, Dupe and Tosin (a boy and a girl) have been discovered not to be his biological children, according to a recent DNA test.  He confessed being disappointed and pained that a woman can actually give someone what does not belong to him.

“I did a DNA test and was told two of the children are not mine. The first two (after Made), a boy and a girl.  It is very serious.  I never knew somebody could give you what is not yours.  I’ve three boys now. I can’t father children I was tricked to believe I am their father,” he lamented.

Because of the betrayal, he returned the two children, Dupe and Tosin, to their mothers.
Funke, his ex-wife, gave birth to his first child and son, Made, who Femi treasures so much.
  
And Bisi Ajala gave birth to Ayomide and one other child that the DNA test recently proved not to be Femi’s.  The third woman’s name was not revealed.

Police parade 25 year old Nigerian musician turned armed-robber

Lagos state Police command on Wednesday paraded a 25 year old musician named John Sunday pictured left, who says he took to armed robbery in order to gather N100,000 to promote his reggae album.
“I am a musician from Ikofepepe in Akwa Ibom State. We were three in the gang, but one is on the run. I needed money to launch my album, Tureke Reggae; that is why I went into robbery. I was targeting N100,000" John said when he was interrogated.

10 soldiers, 35 hunters killed in road explosion in Adamawa

No fewer than10 soldiers and 35 hunters were yesterday evening 6pm killed after a bomb planted along the Mararaba road near Mubi in Adamawa state went off. The soldiers and hunters were on a routine patrol of the area around 6pm when the bomb went off. It killed the soldiers and the hunters instantly

A senior security officer who confirmed the report to Sahara Reporters, said the military was aware of the attack but is not yet certain on the number of casualties.

Senate responds to corruption allegations by Fmr Pres. Obasanjo

The senate has reacted to the corruption allegations leveled against it by the former Pres. Olusegun Obasanjo while at a book launch on Wednesday in Abuja. In a statement released and signed by its spokesman, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe today, the senate frowned at the allegations that they used their oversight function to extort money, stating that the oversight functions of the senate was the initiative of the former president. Rich Chinese man builds free luxury flats for poor people in the town where he grew up


A 54 year old Chinese businessman Xiong Shuihua did something amazing for the community where he grew up in Xinyu, Southern China. He paid to bulldoze all the wooden huts in the area then spent millions replacing them with an estate of luxury flats for the residents.

In total, he housed 72 families to repay them for their kindness towards him while he was growing up. He's also giving villas costing about £4m pounds to another 18 families who were particularly kind to him. In addition, elderly and low paid residents will also be given three meals a day for free.

Nigerian footballer John Zakari dies...

Former Nigerian footballer, John Zakari died in the early hours of yesterday Thursday November 27th at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, where he'd been receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

Also known as John Zaki, he played for Shooting Stars and was a former coach of Stationery Stores. May his soul rest in peace, amen.

Residents flee their villages after receiving letter from Boko Haram

Residents of Kukawa and Gubio villages in Borno state have fled their villages after they reportedly received a letter from Boko Haram informing them of an impending attack on their communities.

A resident of the village, Modu Kaka who spoke with Sahara Reporters, said immediately they received the letter, thousands of residents fled.

63 senators planning to impeach President Jonathan?

Punch is reporting that 63 senators as of yesterday Thursday November 27th have signed up to the plan to impeach President Goodluck Jonathan in the upper legislative chamber. 
They reported that one of the arrowheads of the move to remove Jonathan in the Senate showed one of their correspondents the list containing the signatures of the senators. A source told the paper that 8 PDP senators were among the signatories to the planned impeachment notice. There are 109 members in the Senate.

Florida man rapes and beats his 3 year old stepdaughter to death

A 19 year old Florida man Pascal Kaufmann (pictured above) has been arrested for allegedly raping and beating his 3 year old step-daughter to death, Charlie Brame died in hospital on Monday Nov. 24th. Police say she died from severe brain trauma & had signs of recent 'sexual & aggravated abuse'

According to Orlando Sentinel, the little girl was rushed to the hospital after Kaufmann reported she'd stopped moving at their home on Saturday November 22nd. When paramedics arrived at the home, the little girl was struggling to breathe, with bruises covering her back and head.

Kaufmann told police the girl fell from a bed when he was babysitting her while the girl's mother was at work. The teen had moved to the US from Germany in August after meeting Charlie's mum on the internet. The couple had only married about a week ago.

National Assembly drama: Senate sets up panel to probe IG of Police

The IG of Police Sulaiman Abba was invited by the House yesterday to explain why his men invaded the National Assembly last week Thursday but after the meeting abruptly ended over the IG's refusal to properly address Speaker Tambuwal, the Senate has now set up a committee to probe IGP Abba and other policemen involved in the siege.

A seven-member committee has been set up to probe the action of the police on that day and the committee have been given seven days to have those behind it brought to book.

New report claims the 2 Indian girls found hanging from tree were not murdred, but committed suicide

The two teenage Indian girls who were found hanging from a tree in May were not murdered or raped, that is what The Indian Central Bureau of Investigation claimed today.

The cousins, 15 year old Pushpa and 14 year old Murti had gone missing on May 27th after they told their family they wanted to go use the toilet in a nearby field. They were later found hanging from a mango tree in the remote village in Uttar Pradesh.

The girls were initially believed to have been gang-raped and murdered by five Indian men but the CBI says that's not what happened.

Dieziani Alison-Madueke elected first female president of OPEC

Nigeria's Minister of Petroleum, Dieziani Alison-Madueke has been elected the first female president of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). She was elected today at the ongoing 166th General Meeting of the body in Vienna, Austria.

She replaces former president of OPEC, Libyan Vice Prime Minister for Corporations, Abdourhman Atahar-Ahirish. She was elected for one year and is expected to immediately resume office.

Nigerian man part of two who plotted to kill Ferguson police chief

Two men are being accused of allegedly plotting to murder Ferguson's Chief of Police Tom Jackson and St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Brandon Orlando Baldwin and Olajuwon Ali Davis (pictured above) allegedly purchased a fake pipe bomb and were trying to purchase two bombs when they were discovered. The bomb which was meant to be placed at the St. Louis' Gateway Arch had been targeted at the two Ferguson officials for their roles in the Mike Brown/Darren Wilson case.

The Lagos state Police command has rescued the current Miss Nigeria International 2014 & daughter of an aide to Kwara state Governor, Miss Sa'adat Bibire, who was abducted two weeks ago by a gang of kidnappers who deceived her to come to Warri, Delta state from Lagos after they promised to make her the ambassador of the Aliko Dangote brand.

The gang, made up of students of the Delta state Polytechnic Ozoro, had opened a

account disguising as Aliko Dangote and contacted Sa'adat. They invited her to Warri with the promise to make her Dangote brand ambassador. On getting to Warri, Sa'adat was kidnapped and taken to a place on the outskirts of Ozoro town in Isoko Local Government Area in Delta state. The kidnappers then contacted her family and asked for N20m ransom, which was supposed to be paid into a Malaysian account.

Veteran footballer, Yomi Peters dies of cancer

Ex-goalkeeper and coach of the Stationery Stores of Lagos Yomi Peters died yesterday morning November 26th at the Lagos University Hospital, LUTH after a battle with cancer. He was 74.
Peters was also an ex-Mandilas FC player. He was recently honoured as a veteran of Federation Cup during the last cup final at Teslim Balogun Stadium, where he was represented by his wife. May his soul rest in peace...amen.
