Christian Pastor jailed because he won't wed gay couple

A pastor at the Christian Proctor Church in Vermont, USA, has been sentenced to one year in federal prison after refusing to marry gay couples, according to NBC. This comes shortly after the Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision ruling that states must allow gay-marriage.

The Christian Pastor, 56-year-old Paul Horner, had his lawyer speak to reporters on his behalf.

26 year old David Idah, the houseboy of a retired Senior Magistrate, Mrs Olufunmilayo Timeyin, who beheaded her at her home in Laderin estate in Obafemi-Owode LGA of Ogun State on March 28th was yesterday sentenced to death by hanging by an Ogun state high court judge after finding him guilty of murder.
“Having been found guilty on a one count of unlawful killing, you are hereby sentenced to death by hanging.” - Justice Abiodun Akinyemi said..

Osun workers resume strike action

Two days after calling off their 7-week old strike over unpaid salaries, Osun state civil servants have resumed a fresh strike. The workers are alleging that the state government have reneged on the memorandum of understanding signed with the state NLC leadership before the strike action was called off on Monday July 13th.

Senior civil servants demand a minimum wage of N46, 000

The Association of Senior Civil Servants demanded a minimum wage of N46,000 for workers.
The union’s Secretary-General, Mr. Bashir Lawal, in Lagos State, on Wednesday, said that the existing N18,000 minimum wage was too little to meet the socio-economic demands of workers.

According to him, they arrived at a minimum wage of N46,000 per month after the union met with the National Public Service Joint Negotiating Council.
He said,

An allegedly unlicensed New York City day care center is being investigated after an infant died on his first day under its care. Karl Towndrow, who was 3 months old, was found unresponsive 15 minutes after being put down for his midday nap Monday at SoHo Child Care in Manhattan, police said.

Citizen Uche, the man who ran away from his family in February after his wife, Ruth informed him that she was having their third set of twins, has returned home. He returned home yesterday July 15.

According to The Nation, Emeka returned to their new house in Ogun state. The Uches, who were living in a dilapidated house in Agege prior to this coming out, have moved to a mini flat in Ogun state with the money she received from kindhearted Nigerians who came to her rescue.

ISIS releases video of their biggest massacre - prisoners made to lay in mass graves before being shot dead

This has to be their one of their sickest videos yet. ISIS over the weekend released a video showing the mass executions of prisoners. The men -  in their hundreds - were made to lay in shallow graves and were then sprayed with bullets. The men are believed to be military cadets captured during their battle with the terrorists.

Detained ex Jigawa gov, Sule Lamido and two sons flown to Abuja

Nigerian Prison sources say ex Jigawa state governor, Sule Lamido and his two sons Aminu and Mustapha, have been flown to Abuja this morning ahead of the court hearing for their bail application holding tomorrow July 14th. The former Governor and sons who are standing trial for allegedly collecting bribe totaling N1.35 billion from government contractors when he was governor, were on July 9th ordered to be remanded in Kano Prisons by Justice Evelyn Anyadike.

Abuja Court grants Ohakim N270m bail for N270m fraud

Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted former Imo state governor, Ikedi Ohakim bail of N270 million in a N270 million fraud case which he is standing trial for. The former governor was arraigned over a N270 million fraud he allegedly committed in 2008 while he was governor.  

R. Kelly sued by his older brother for not paying his salary

37 teachers died in Kaduna bomb blast - NUT president

The National President of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Micheal Olukoya, says that 37 teachers died in the bomb incident that rocked Sabongari in Kaduna state on July 7th. The teachers were at the state secretariat to partake in the verification exercise initiated by the government to weed off ghost workers.

While speaking at the Founders day of the Nigerian Union of Teachers in Abuja today July 8th, Mr Olukoya said so far, 272 teachers had lost their lives to the various Boko Haram attacks in Borno State alone and that over 19,000  had been displaced in the North East.

Dozens of ISIS fighters killed from poisoned food after breaking Ramadan fast

Several ISIS fighters were killed after breaking their Ramadan fast with a poisoned meal in  the Iraqi city of Mosul. According to reports, the poisonous dinner was served up to 145 jihadist for iftar - the traditional meal which celebrates the end of the day's fasting.Shortly after the meal 45 of the fighters died.

Buhari laments state of Nigeria’s military

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has for the first time met those campaigning for the release of more than 200 girls abducted by Islamist Boko Haram militants last year. His predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, declined to meet the Bring Back Our Girls activists.

Buhari promised them that troops for a regional force to fight the militants would be in place by the end of July. The kidnap of the girls from a school in Chibok sparked global outrage.

Nigerian embassy in Saudi Arabia snubs president Buhari's family?

That is what Leadership newspaper is claiming. According to the report, the Nigerian embassy in Saudi Arabia this week side-stepped protocol by giving preference to former Vice President Namadi Sambo and his entourage of 15 family members over that of President Buhari when both arrived for the lesser Hajj (Umrah) in Saudi Arabia.
The Umrah is performed by Muslims from all over the world who converge on the holy city of Mecca to observe the ritual, which can be undertaken at any time of the year but mostly observed during Ramadan.

Dad shot dead while holding his baby on Bronx street

A Bronx dad was shot in the head while carrying his 1-year-old daughter in his arms on Tuesday July 7th and his killer walked away laughing, sources and witnesses said.

Allen McQueen, 21, was taking his little girl to play in a park when the gunman approached them on Taylor Avenue near Guerlain Street in Parkchester around 1:30 p.m. Witnesses said McQueen was struck while trying to shield the baby. Photo: German kickboxer, Valdet Gashi killed in Syria 6 months after joining ISIS

The 29-year- old father of two and a German of Albanian ancestry, was a two-time champion in world mixed martial arts and was from the German state of Bavaria. He became a jihadist, left his family behind and joined ISIS in Syria in January this year.

He tried to deceive his family by telling him them he was in Bangkok, even posting photos on FB, but after reports of him joining the terror group emerged, he asked his family to not 'judge' him, saying "If I die while doing good, I of course will be glad.". He reportedly died last weekend...
