FCT Police Commissioner bans #BringBackOurGirls protest in Abuja

The Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Joseph Mbu has banned all forms of the #BringBackOurGirls protest in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the ban was issued yesterday June 2nd. Various groups have had demonstrations in Abuja in the last few weeks over the missing Chibok girls who were abducted on April 14th.

Explaining the ban, Mr Mbu, at a press conference in Abuja this afternoon, said the ban was as a result of the security threat it poses on the FCT. He said the police has strong evidence which indicates that the protest groups would soon be infiltrated by "dangerous elements" who are capable of hijacking the protest. Continue...
He said the recent attack by a rival protest group,"Release our girls" on the Abuja #bringbackourgirls group where bottles were used to attack people and cameras of some journalist destroyed is a clear indication that the protest has been infiltrated and in no time would cause a breech in public peace.
"Information reaching us is that too soon, dangerous elements will join groups under the guise of protest and detonate explosives aimed at embarrassing the government. As the FCT police boss, I cannot fold my hands and watch this lawlessness.” he said
