Jonathan Appoints Tukur Ambassador-At-Large

Former Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has been appointed as Ambassador-at-Large by President Goodluck Jonathan.Bamanga Tukur

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday, June 16 in Abuja by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NAN reports.

The statement says under the new appointment, Tukur as an envoy will be "assigned special duties by the president."

Chronicling the achievements of Tukur in the public and private service, the statement said "Tukur served as the General Manager and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Ports’ Authority  from 1975 to 1982 and Governor of the then Gongola State in 1983.

He also served as Minister for Industries between 1994 and 1995.
It will be recalled that , after which he was replaced on by former Bauchi governor Adamu Mu'azu.
