A
key stakeholder of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa,
Engr. Marcus Gundiri, on March 3, 2014, Monday, has cleared the air on
his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He made his comments at a press conference in Yola, where he had formally announced his defection to the PDP.
Gundiri
blasted the national leadership of APC for being insensitive to his
actions. He further accused the opposition party # 1 of conceding the
party structures to Governor Murtala Nyako, without asking for other
members’ opinion. In his opinion, this was a “dictatorial and
undemocratic” move.
He further accused Nyako’s loyalists of poor management skills.
For
example, he described the recent membership registration exercise of
the party as sham, and that the process was full of irregularities.
“Trained registration supervisors were not allowed to handle the registration exercise in some areas as demanded by law while it was out rightly cancelled in some local government councils,” he noted.
Gundiri
has also accused APC National Leader, Bola Ahmad Tinubu and APC
governors of frustrating his ambition when he contested for governorship
on the platform of the now-defunct ACN by refusing to assist him with
campaign funds.
He
also added that only the people of Adamawa would decide whether he
should run for Governor and being elected during the next poll, or not.
