Mr. Timothy Olubunmi, was a bricklayer who was working at the ongoing modern market in Ibafo, Ogun State.
According to the Punch, an eyewitness, who gave his name as Samuel, said the sad event took all of them when the deceased had fallen from one of the uncompleted buildings in the market, and died when he landed on his neck.
“Some of the eyewitnesses said he had become drunk and this was noticed in the way he was talking. Shortly after he headed for the building, we heard that he fell and landed on the ground on his neck.”
According to a resident, who begged for anonymity, Olubunmi, who was father of two children, was noticed in the afternoon with some of his friends taking drinks at a beer shop. “Olubunmi had died before he could be rushed to a nearby hospital for attention,” the resident added.
It was gathered that policemen attached to the Ibafo Police Division evacuated the remains of the deceased at a morgue in Sagamu, Ogun State.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident, said: “A bricklayer on Monday fell at the Ibafo Market site, and died. The police actually found out that he was drunk, and the fall was so tragic that he lost his life.”
