It was gathered that the debate divided the delegates into northern and southern divide and also into geo-political interests.
However, at the end of deliberation on the issue, the delegates agreed to create additional 18 states in Nigeria but with stringent conditions attached to the process.
Speaking on the conclusion of the delegates, Dele Momodu went on his official twitter handle moment ago and rubbished the idea.

The
renown publisher described the action of the delegates, who he referred
to as politicians, as an attempt to put innocent Nigerians in bondage
of recklessness.He added that rather for the delegates to focus on how to merge some states in order to reduce wastes that they are talking about creating more states for the country.
He therefore, called on all Nigerians 'to find the voice to speak against those determined to eat the meat of Nigeria, crush the bone and drain the blood mercilessly!

It
could be recalled that after taking decision on states to be created,
Deputy Chairman of the conference, Pro.Bolaji Akinyemi, read out the
following as the new states to be created: Orashi, New Oyo, Etiti,
Savanna, Adada, Njaaba-Anim, Apa, Gurara, Ijebu, Ogoja, Kainji, Katagun,
Amana, Sadauna, Aba, and Anioma, among others.
