APC Youth Leader Murdered By Hoodlums In Lagos

A leader of a youth faction of the All Progressives Congress, Kunle Awotunde, was shot dead yesterday around Apapa Road, Ebute Meta, Lagos by some hoodlums.

According to report, he was shot as a result of a feud between thugs loyal to one Skippo’s gang and the late Seyi Rugged’s gang, who was stabbed to death by the rival group sometime in January.

Kunle's killing was said to be a continuation of the fight as the deceased was alleged to be a member of Skippo's gang.

A security guard who witnessed the incident said about 10am, a member of Skippo's gang identified as Jamiu was caught near Jones Street which is controlled by the late Seyi Rugged’s group and was beaten mercilessly and was going to be killed before Kunle and others came to his rescue.

Some minutes later, members of Skippo's group came and started shooting at them and that's when Kunle was hit by a bullet near his chest and he died a few minutes later.

Some residents have however described the crisis in the area as political as some of the thugs allegedly had the backing of top officials at the Mainland Local Government Area.

The deceased was said to be in his 30s and a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers.

He left behind a wife and two children.
