Officials of the Nigeria Security
and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) operating in Jigawa State, on Wednesday
said it rescued a 35-year-old man (names withheld) accused of stealing 11
goats from being lynched by angry mob.

Gidado, the agency's state commandant, who made this known to
journalists in Dutse, said that the suspect has been arrested and
detained pending investigation.
Gidado said that the incident took place at Jaruwa village in Jahun Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, the suspect was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly stole the goats belonging to Malam Sulaiman Adamu.
the
state commandant said that the matter was reported to officers of the
command operating in the area by some residents of the village, adding
that the suspect was rescued from the mob who said they caught him while
taking the goats out of the village.
"They beat up the suspect and almost lynched him" Gidado said.
Gidado
said the suspect was taken to the General Hospital at Jahun for medical
attention following the injuries he sustained, but he been discharged.
The commandant said that the suspect confessed to committing the crime, and would soon be charged to court.
