An Upper Sharia court in Kano state has
sentenced a 63-year-old man, who is HIV positive to death for infecting a
minor, Hauwa Muhammad with the virus.
The accused, Ubale Saidu Dotsa, who has been standing trial over the last two months for raping a 12-year-old confessed to raping the minor at Dotsa village in Kumbotso, a suburb of Kano was found guilty following the evidence the prosecutor presented.
According to medical report tendered by the prosecutor in court, Hauwa, a Primary 6 pupil has been inflicted with the deadly virus after the the convict forcefully penetrated her.
He was ordered by Khadi Faruq Ahmed to pay a sum of N36 million be paid as compensation to the parents of Hauwa Mohammed should their daughter die.
Meanwhile Ubale Saidu who is said to have been living with HIV in the last two years lost his two wives to the deadly virus in 2011.

Khadi Farouq also directed that the
judgment should be forwarded to the Ministry of Justice which is
expected to forward same to Governor of the state Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso
for approval.
