Alhaji Wasiu Abiodun on Tuesday asked Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan to dissolve his marriage with Kafaya over her alleged change of faith.

According to the man's words, divorce has become the only solution because his wife completely refuses to carry out Islamic obligations.

The plaintiff's statement read:
"Kafaya no longer prepares my safur, the meal eaten at dawn during Ramadan fasting period. She now goes to church against my advice and even refuses to carry out my instructions... She does not want me to marry another wife, yet Kafaya is making life difficult for me. She married me as a Moslem and she knows that I am a devout Muslim, she converted for no reason, please, I am tired of this relationship."

Moreover, Alhaji added that Kafaya's brother stole a big amount of money and goods from him and then ran away.

Meanwhile the defendant pleaded the court not to dissolve the marriage for the sake of their children, confirming that she goes to church occasionally. The woman said she didn't want to leave her home.

Having ordered both sides to produce evidence in support of their arguments, the president of the court adjourned the case to April 16.
